Every year, I get slightly nervous slash excited as I prepare for family pictures. What colors will we wear, where will we capture the photos, how ah-dorable can I dress the girls?! lol. Its a mom’s greatest dream in theory, but coordinating at all can get a little overwhelming. Plus, total transparency – I always end up putting together my outfit details like 2 days out. Still managing the balance, y’all. And, we always come last, don’t we?!
So, I am going to start curating best of looks from friends around the web for easy ideas for color combos and exact looks to shop for your family pictures; and, depending what you choose – this look, at least, will also be worn on Thanksgiving!
Let the countdown to Christmas, Hanukkah and to all the holidays feels begin!
And, here’s a look at the trend we wore this year, mustard and maroon:
The Trend: Lace A-Line Dress in Mustard
Dress is by Genuine Kids by OshKosh, fits true to size and is a much deeper mustard color, vs the yellow this picture shows. The bell sleeves are detailed at the cuff and the dress is nice and thick. Again – this image is a little deceiving in regards to the color – but still adorable! Shop it.
Faux Fur Vest
Can I just say – I am loving the new lines at Dillard’s. Literally was blown away when I decided to visit the store last week. Dillard’s gets kids fashion and their Copper + Key and Edgehill lines are two Dillard’s exclusives that are all about quality materials, style and function that will be come new staples for the girls. Copper + Key vests and jackets are machine washable and Edgehill is a premium line of traditional and elevated clothing and accessories. Snagged this vest for the girls and it took their dress to another level. A little more than I would usually spend at $46, but truly worth every penny and will be on repeat all season. Shop this vest.

For You, Mama
Shop this Leather Sheath Dress in Oxblood. I wore this in a size 4 – I would recommend sizing up if you’re between sizes.
OK. So, I normally would not spend this much on a dress to be very honest; but, it’s leather, its a classic cut and I’m going to get a ton of wear out of it over the years. I’ll end up styling this a few ways for you soon. If you want some other options in this color, just message me and I’ll find some great options for you! firstname.lastname@example.org or @dancingbackwardsinheels
There’s really no rules for this dress, and it really doesn’t require much to make it pop! So, dress it up with a tall boot, or keep it casual in a suede bootie. You really can’t go wrong with this look! All images linked for easy shopping.
I also really loved this dress with black accents for when pictures are over and you’re wearing this day to day.
The Perfect Earring
Sure, you could belt this dress, and add a statement necklace; but, this dress really speak for itself. Style with your choice of finish in one my favorite statement earrings of the moment, Luca, which have already been on repeat for me all fall. They are versatile, and newly launches as part of Kendra Scott’s 2018 Fall Collections.
Now get out there and SMILE with confidence. XO, Gina
Tag #dbihstyle and @dancingbackwardsinheels to be featured and to show me how your family styled this look of the season. And, I usually don’t touch Derek’s style, but if you want to see more men’s fashion, would you please let me know? Thank you xx
